3-8 PM Porch Stories Tour
Skywave Writers, a creative writing group, announces their third annual "Porch Stories" tour to take place on August 1, 2009. Porch Stories is a uniquely entertaining event with an educational flair. Volunteers guide participants on a leisurely stroll through Hudson's historic village, past beautiful 19th century homes. On four of these grand old porches, an extraordinary story of Hudson's history is told by an actor from The Hudson Players. Some of the story topics this year highlight Hudson's role in the Underground Railroad and the story of the second-oldest observatory in America, which is located on the campus of Western Reserve Academy. Tours of the Loomis Observatory will be conducted following the story. Tours begin at 3:00 p.m. from Hudson's Clocktower Green. Each tour lasts about 45 minutes. The last tour leaves at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the event or in advance at Uniquely Ohio, 103 First St. in Hudson. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Children 6 years and under can accompany their parents at no extra charge. For more information, call Kathie Franks at 330-319-3193.
